This Kōkako pendant has been created by Maddy and directly inspired by the native fauna of Aoteroa New Zealand.

It is cast in solid sterling silver, with a New Zealand green Jade or Siberian white Jade cabochon insert.

 

While the Kōkako has been extinct on the South Island, 400 remain on the North Island.

Endemic to New Zealand, the Kōkako is characterized by its blue wattles, grey feathers and a beautiful organ-like song.

Being a poor flier, the Kōkako prefers to use its strong legs to hop and leap instead.

Stories tell that a Kōkako once filled its wattles with water to offer to Māui to quench his thirst.As a re

 

This piece can be cast in solid sterling silver, yellow gold or bronze, and different stones can also be set on demand.
