This sculpture has been hand carved by Mady for the Zei Gang Bei Festival, an International Jade Sculpture Competition in Suzhou, China, November 2017.
"Through this carving I wanted to express how I see the connection that humans have with nature today.
I chose to carve this « Anthropo-leaf » out of an Australian Black Jade to represent this dark time we are living in, where humans are disconnected from nature, living in their own shadow.
In opposition to this dark side, I wanted to bring hope and light with the two green leaves, made out of New Zealand Jade.
Like the leaves traveling on the river, they are indefinitely carrying this « dark side », in the hope to find the light one day ."
